We would like to invite you to our next member learning on Mining and Local Communities Wednesday (24.07.) at 18:30 at Burritoville (3rd floor) given by Jan de Bakker. The session will be given in English.
This member learning will explore how mining and resource extraction either provide net benefits to local communities, or engender opposition. Members will go over two case studies of mining projects in Canada: the proposed Cliffs Chromite mine and smelter in Northwest Ontario, and the Raglan mine in Nunavik, Quebec. As we discuss these cases, we will try to determine what went right, what went wrong, and what can be improved.
We hope to see you in great numbers.
